Chair of MMSA

Chair of Mathematical Methods of Systems Analysis (MMSA) is a part of the Educational-Scientific Complex «Institute for Applied System Analysis» and functions in NTUU «KPI» since 1988.

In 1988 V.M. Glushkov a USSR at Kiev Polytechnic Institute, at the initiative of the Institute of Cybernetics, organized the Department «Mathematical Methods of System Analysis» for the intensive development of basic and applied researches in applied mathematics and systems analysis and for training and researching staff on a wide range of cybernetic disciplines, methods, computer technologies and computer science.

The main objectives of  MMSA consist of the preparation of  highly skilled engineers, mathematicians in mathematical modeling and system analysis of complex physical processes and of the environment, and the creation of effective modern methods of management of technical systems and advanced information technologies.

At present more than a thousand students study at the department of  MMSA. Realization of the educational activities at the Department of  MMSA for bachelors and masters, since  the 2007/2008 academic year  is provided with such areas:

  • 6.040303 System Analysis (professional orientation program «System analysis and management» qualification — a Bachelor of Applied Mathematics);
  • 6.040302 Informatics (professional orientation program «Social Informatics» qualifications — Bachelor of Applied Mathematics);
  • 6.050101 Computer Science (professional orientation program «Intelligent Decision Support Systems» qualifications — Bachelor of Computer Sciences).

Standard education term according to the program of full-time Bachelors preparation — 3 years 10 months (part-time — 4 years 5 months). Standard education term according to the program of  Masters preparation — 1 year 10 months.

Within the scope of each specialty by preparation of masters, exist profile specializations, that are aimed on more concrete and practical aspects of general training application.

The main areas of scientific activities of  MMSA are:

  • development of principles and methods of system analysis;
  • conducting applied researches in systems analysis;
  • analysis and design of complex information systems;
  • forecasting of the state problems;
  • systematic studies of global changes;
  • implementation of large-scale international links in education and science.

Lectures teaching, practical instruction, guidance diploma involves experienced scientists and educators of  NTUU «KPI», Institute of Cybernetics. Glushkov National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Institute for Information Recording of  NAS of Ukraine, Institute of Mathematics of NAS of Ukraine, Institute of Space Research of Ukraine and National Space Agency.

Today the department include: 1 member and 1 corresponding member of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, and 2 members of the International Academy of  Higher Education, 22 Dr. and 38 PhDs.

All the conditions for practical training, training for CISCO network academy of design, construction and administration of local and global networks, with a number of areas related to analytical support banking and etc., are provided in computer labs equipped due to the modern principles.
