The main directions of scientific work of the Educational-Scientific Complex "Institute for Applied System Analysis" of NTUU "KPI" (subordinate to the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine), that were approved by the Decree of NAS of Ukraine Presidium № 97 from 08.04.2009 are:

Systematic methodology for strategic planning of new trends of globalisation of innovation activities was introduced, which involves the use of the  of technology foresight methodology. The formalization multifactor strategies to minimize the risk analysis was ddesigned with the specific methods of qualitative analysis. Alternative scenarios relating to the definition of perspective ways to implement critical technologies in the field of "Energy and Energy Efficiency" was created. Priorities for Ukraine distant sensing of the Earth has been established (N. Pankratova).

The technique of dynamic Bayesian network structure based on statistical data that entails the use of new statistical parameters of quality has been suggested. The architecture decision support system for solving the problem of adaptive modeling and foresight of nonlinear non-stationary processes of arbitrary nature has been developed. The system is based on Bayesian statistical method and structural analysis, the latter based on  the use of Bayesian networks, estimation theory and the theory of nonlinear non-stationary processes (P. - the development of the theory of nonlinear and multidigit analysis, nonlinear differential operator equations and variational inclusions unequations, infinite-dimensional analysis methods, theories and methods of optimisation, game theory, systems of mathematics;

For differential-operator inclusions with multivalued mappings of Sk design methods and accurate search algorithms have been obtained. Functional and topological properties of the operator for inclusion has also been investigated. The results have been applied to a wide class of geophysical processes and fields, mathematical models which include differential equations with discontinuous or  partial multivalued dependencies between the determining parameters problem (Academician of NASU M. Zgurovsky, P. Kasyanov).

A new class of problems with the study of distributed systems with special boundary conditions, taking into account the forecast has been set up. Investigation of complex modes for the equations with deviation argument as advance (including the so-called turbulent equations) has been conducted. Comparative analysis of possible solutions of   nonlinear partial differencial equations the evolutionary type has been conducted; new approaches to building high-precision approximation of singular solutions have been found. The modification of cellular automata models by including the properties of the forecast has been completed (O. Makarenko, D. Krushynkiy).

Dynamic and temporal characteristics of the social processes of communication have been studied. Basic communication scenarios: sequential, stable and unstable relations between adherents of different ideas and the critical conditions for their existence have been identified (G Poveschenko).

The analysis and development of new research methods of operator systems and methods for multivalued mapping of  monotone pseudo-type classification has been introduced. Terms of continuous and compact special class of infinite-dimensional distributions with integrated derivatives have been established. Sensitivity solution  inaccurate estimation on stochastic uncertainty has been studied and a systematic analysis of adaptive processes for individual and collective decisions has been conducted (M. Andreev, N. Zadoyanchuk, P. Kasyanov).

The problem of transportation and distribution of product among consumers considering the possibility of establishing stocks in temporary storage areas has been studied. The models of several food flows in networks with generalised Kirchhoff law have been created. Developed efficient algorithms for finding optimal routes and approximate algorithms for unknown production units in the flow distribution problems with various conservation laws have been found out (V. Ostapenko, O. Kirik).

A general theory of differential games in which the second player is the random act interference with Markov dependenct has been built. As in the case of general differential games, the new structures of differential games are described as operator structures, and their optimal strategies for the first player are built on their base (V.Ostapenko, I. - the development of theoretical and applied foundations for global modeling of sustainable development processes and evaluation of the major threats to human life quality and safety at the World Data Centre "Geoinformatics and Sustainable Development" and International Cooperation of the World's Data Systems;

Global Modelling of Sustainable Development.

Non-stationary natural disasters of various nature, which greatly depends on the climate and technological changes has been explored on the basis of System Mathematics application, as an analytical platform to adress interdisciplinary issues. Quantifying sustainable development process that depends on a group of economic, environmental and social indices, indicators and data sets (taking into consideration all possible threats) has been achieved. The analysis of the impact of these threats to sustainable development worldwide has been conducted. The group of global risk and threats to development in these countries and scenarios has been analysed  to prevent undesirable consequences and disasters caused by the action of these factors have been developed by the Academician of NAS of Ukraine M. Zgurovsky.

Grid, Department  of Education and Science of Ukraine, which is assosiate with the type of networt infonmation (Data Grid) according to its functions, is being created. Ugrid project provides service of Ugrid Ukrainian sbranch of the World Data Centre (WDC UV) by providing its customers with remote access to the global scientific data, the possibility of effective shared use of computers, unique experimental setting and devices ( ) (Academician of NAS of Ukraine M.Z.
